The gold cage. In the Tyrrhenian Sea, between Corsica and Tuscany, is the mysterious island of Elba, famous for once being the beautiful prison of Napoleon in exile. With an organic pearl held prisoner in its gold and silver cage, Majorica remembers the imprisonment of the most famous Corsican of all time.
The person who would later be emperor of France and its overseas territories was born in Ajaccio, Corsica. A successful soldier during the French Revolution, Napoleon conquered a large part of Europe between 1799 and 1810, consolidating developments in voting rights, judicial and constitutional matters, and even establishing the regulations of the Comédie Française.
After being forced to abdicate, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Elba by the Treaty of Paris, where he remained for some months before returning to France and regaining power.
The Majorica Elba capsule collection has cage earrings and pendants with curved and elongated forms, made from both sterling silver and 2 micron 24k gold-plated silver. Inside, a Majorica organic pearl floats and moves without escaping its prison.
